  1. Football, association or soccor is a form of 
  2. football originating in the UK, popular in 
  3. Europe and Latin America. The modern game is 
  4. played in the UK according to the rules laid 
  5. down by the Football Association. Slight 
  6. amendments to the rules take effect in 
  7. certain competitions and overseas matches as 
  8. laid down by the sport's world governing 
  9. body, Fédération Internationale de Football 
  10. Association (FIFA, 1904). FIFA organizes the 
  11. competitions for the World Cup, held every 
  12. four years since 1930. There are two teams 
  13. each of 11 players, broadly divided into 
  14. defence (the goalkeeper and defenders), 
  15. midfield (whose players collect the ball from
  16. the defence and distribute it to the 
  17. attackers), and attack (forwards or 
  18. strikers).
